Need a break from the COVID gloom? Why not try ‘Variety Hour’ with Craig from Engaging Activities

Gen: From time to time, we hear about amazing people offering incredible services and this is one of those occasions! Here’s an email we received from the lovely Craig at Engaged Activities, offering some sunshine during these gloomy COVID times. Enjoy!

“Since Co-vid 19 struck, I have done a great number of virtual sessions either online or via the telephone and it has made me realise that some members of our elderly society can be very lonely and isolated, particularly now. I wanted to provide some weekly entertainment to look forward to and to bring people together in the name of fun and playfulness.

Therefore, the Wednesday afternoon 2pm ‘Variety Hour’ entertainment is a new venture for me aimed at people living in care or people in the community. I want to reach the people that need a little bit of love, laughter and light every week. The Variety Hour is interactive entertainment designed to stimulate people physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. It includes singing, poetry, comedy, quizzes, reminiscence, creative movement, cognitive exercises, discussion and learning and much more. Sometimes the sessions are themed, sometimes not.

The first one is the 30th September and every Wednesday afternoon thereafter.

It all happens online via Zoom and my website www.engagingactivities.co.uk can take the payment of £10 via PayPal or credit or debit card. People can choose the dates on the calendar and pay accordingly. I’m hoping to make quality entertainment more affordable, particularly for care homes, due to the Covid-19 situation, as monetary pressures on the care sector are on the increase. I’ve now done hundreds of Zoom sessions online and I know it works and the connections we have are beautiful. I’m hoping that I can support some charities in care work with some of the money generated from this venture.

I’m sure you’ll agree the wellbeing of our elderly population of people has never been so more important than right now.

Take care, Craig x
